Medical emergencies are an unavoidable part of dental practice. Most can be prevented with proper anesthesia and stress management, but every office must be ready with an emergency drug kit—especially with epinephrine.

Epinephrine is the primary treatment for anaphylaxis, but auto-injectors have barriers such as incorrect use, needle fear, short shelf-life, and limited access. A new intranasal spray formulation helps overcome these challenges by offering a safer, more effective, and

economical alternative. This course updates the dental team on the latest data and delivery methods for epinephrine, from past practices to future innovations.

About the Speaker

Mark Donaldson, BSP, ACPR, PHARMD, FASHP, FACHE

Dr. Mark Donaldson is currently Associate Principal of Clinical Pharmacy for Vizient’s Advisory Solutions, and lives in Whitefish, Montana. Dr. Donaldson is a Clinical Professor at the University of Montana, Clinical Associate Professor at the Oregon Health & Sciences University, and affiliate faculty in Dentistry at UBC.

Dr. Donaldson serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Dental Association and is the 2016 recipient of the Academy of General Dentistry’s Dr. Thaddeus Weclew Award. He has lectured internationally to both dental and medical practitioners, focusing on dental pharmacology and therapeutics, and is a leader in the field.
